In Search of Something Absolute

The news around the world can feel deeply troubling, but I think that when we turn our eyes towards nature, we can somehow return to something older — something quieter, more essential, and perhaps closer to where we are meant to be.

So I've painted this small oil painting of a rose again. A small attempt to return to something that simply exists, grows, and endures. I found myself searching for one absolute thing in the middle of an uncertain future. And once again, I turned towards nature.

This feels strange, in a way, because I have been an urban person for as long as I can remember.

Nature can frighten me because it is unfamiliar, because I don't fully understand it. And yet, perhaps it is not as frightening as the chaos we, as human beings, create ourselves.
